Billiard Tables and Equipment

Billiard tables are the biggest purchase in this sport, so this category brings together the tables themselves and everything needed to keep them in shape. Pool tables come in three sizes. A 7ft billiard table (bar box) measures about 130 × 230 cm and fits a 3.9 × 4.9 m room, which is why it ends up in homes and pubs. The 8ft table is the club standard and the most common size in Polish listings, and the 9ft table is the WPA and World Nineball Tour tournament size. Snooker tables are full-size 12ft or compact 10ft. Listings feature Rasson, Diamond, Brunswick, Dynamic, WIK, Buffalo, Riley and Tournament Champion, new from sellers and used from closing clubs, often with a ball set and cues.

The slate bed is the one parameter that splits tables into two classes. A slate-bed billiard table has a 19–25 mm slate, usually in three sections in 8ft and 9ft and in five sections in 12ft snooker. Slate does not react to humidity and, once levelled, gives a perfectly straight ball path for decades. An MDF bed is lighter and cheaper, but after a year or two it can bulge and the ball starts to curve at the end of its path. Add K-66 rubber cushions (pool) or steel-block cushions (snooker), worsted cloth and adjustable feet.
