About For Carom
Carom balls are sold in threes: two white (one with a marker, to tell the players balls apart) and one red. They are 61.5 mm across, noticeably larger than pool balls, and weigh about 210 grams — these carom billiard balls will not play on a pool or snooker table.
Carom is played on a table with no pockets, so the balls never drop and work entirely off the cushions. That makes the resilience of the material critical: the standard is Aramith phenolic resin, in the Super Pro and Tournament Pro-Cup Prestige series. Club sets are cheaper but lose their gloss sooner. On a used set, check that all three balls show the same wear — buying a single ball years later rarely matches well. Other sizes are in billiard balls, and equipment is in accessories and billiard tables.
