About Extensions
Snooker cue extensions are needed more often than in pool, because a 12ft table has 3.5 metres of playing area and with the cue ball on the cushion there is simply nowhere to stand. The tournament standard is a telescopic extension screwed into a socket in the butt — it slides out 15–40 cm and stays on the cue.
The second type is a mini-butt: a short extension pushed onto the end of the cue and used together with the rest. The third covers half-butts and long rests, which are table equipment — those live by the table in a club, you do not buy them for your cue. Before buying, check whether your butt has a threaded socket; without one only the slip-on version is left. Cues with a factory extension are in snooker cues, and table equipment sits with snooker tables.
