Snooker scoring — how it works
The counter follows World Snooker rules: a red is worth 1 point, yellow 2, green 3, brown 4, blue 5, pink 6 and black 7. A player alternates a red and any colour, and the colours return to their spots until the last red is potted. After that they are potted in order from yellow to black and stay down. A break is the total scored in one visit, and the maximum break is 147.
Fouls and the free ball
A foul in snooker costs at least 4 points, or the value of the highest ball involved: 5 for the blue, 6 for the pink and 7 for the black. The points go to the opponent. When a player cannot see a full red after a foul, the referee calls a free ball: any colour can then be nominated as a red and potted for 1 point. The counter handles both cases with one button and tracks how many points are still on the table.
What the counter is for
The app runs in a phone, tablet or desktop browser, with no login and no installation. It suits club play, practice and tournament streams: it shows the frame score, the current break, the points remaining on the table and the difference that decides whether the opponent still needs snookers. Results of tournaments run on BidBil are saved in the bracket and can be shown on a screen in the venue.
