Extensions

Cue extensions help in two situations: when the cue ball sits where you cannot reach it with a normal bridge, and when you play on a 9ft table at 175 cm tall. Instead of gripping the cue by the bumper, you screw in an extension and play your normal stroke.

There are three types. The screw-in kind replaces the bumper — the cleanest solution, but the cue needs a threaded bumper. The slip-on kind clamps onto the butt with a rubber collar and fits almost any cue. The telescopic kind slides out smoothly and stays on the cue permanently. Typical length is 15–30 cm; the longer it is, the more rear-heavy the cue becomes, so a light cue is better off with a short one.
