How does McDermott differ from Predator?
McDermott is traditional American production with a maple butt and emphasis on looks and wooden feel. Predator is a technology company focused on shafts. Many players combine both: a McDermott butt with a 3/8×10 joint and a Predator or McDermott Defy shaft.
What is G-Core?
G-Core is a maple shaft with a rubber core in the upper section that dampens vibration after impact. It gives a soft, clean feel but does not lower deflection the way i-3 or Defy do. G-Core is enough to start; for tournaments add an i-3 or Defy.
How much does a McDermott cost?
The Chinese-made Lucky series is 120–220 EUR, USA-made G-Series cues 350–800 EUR, richly inlaid and limited models 900–2300 EUR. Used G-Series cues usually go for 200–470 EUR.
